—by Ernest Holmes
And we must awaken ourselves — rediscover that lost paradise, that child who was not afraid of the Universe in which he lived, that child who did not deny himself or his God, that child who had not listened to the dull, monotonous tune of condemnation, until he had isolated himself in fear from the Universe in guilt and, being antisocial, became anti-spiritual, and finally, for his own self-protection in the world that hurts so much, must regret until nature relieves him, which it always will — because limitation and want and lack and pain belong only to the lower order of perception.
There is a place on the side of the mountain we are ascending where, like the burden of the pilgrim, there is an ascent which, having gone beyond the peaks that obstructed the light around us, reaches an apex where no longer any shadows are cast. This is the light that is spoken of that lighteth every man ’s path.
And as you believe that you live, believe you are that light. As you believe in the possibility of your own soul, believe it is God. As you believe in God, believe in yourself.

No one ever loses when one trusts love.
— Rickie Byars
We must trust the Invisible, for it is the sole cause of that
which is visible.
— “The Science of Mind,” page 57
Have you ever had the experience where you needed
something to happen in your life, and you just didn’t
know how it was going to happen and where it was going
to come from? In those moments, you may have had the thought
or maybe even said something to the effect of, “I need (fill in the
blank), but God only knows where it’s going to come from.”
Little do we realize at the time that God does know where it’s
going to come from. When we are rooted in truth, we live from
the knowing that everything we need is naturally provided.
Holmes wrote about trusting the invisible. We must know that
God in us knows exactly what we need and when.
Trusting the Invisible creates peace of mind. We no longer
worry about what to do, where to go or how we will make it. We
trust the power within us to guide and direct us to experience
our greatest and highest good, no matter what might be happening
Obviously, we are not to sit back and wait for something to
happen. We must do our part. We must show up and do what is
front of us. Yes, we do our prayer work, remember our affirmations,
and then get busy working toward the fulfillment of our
vision. Anchored in the truth that God is all there is, we can let
go and trust that the Divine knows where.
I trust in the power of the Divine. I am abundantly supported in all

When we love the whole race with the whole heart, then we
shall enter the presence of Him who is love.
— Christian D. Larson
Treat to know that Love is stronger than any other force in the
Universe, and that steadily and rhythmically the Life of God is
pulsing through your body.
— “The Science of Mind,” page 249
It all starts in love, and it all fades into love. Love is all there
is. Some people may have an issue with using the word God.
That’s perfectly all right. Substitute the word Love for God. In
doing so, scripture takes on a different feeling. For example, in
the beginning, Love created the heavens and the earth.
As Holmes said, Love is stronger than any force in the universe.
Love — that deep, unconditional love — has the power to
change everything. This unconditional love, the love that created
the heavens and the earth, is the love that flows through the very
core of life. It is the power that flows through you and as you
now. No matter what, love. Your spouse upsets you; love anyway.
Your job or work is causing you stress; love anyway. Love
In all this loving, the most important person to love is yourself.
You are the most the most precious person in your life. God
so loved the world, that It created you. It created you in Its spiritual
image and likeness, which is perfection itself.
Love yourself unconditionally. No matter what the mistakes
were in the past, love yourself today. Loving yourself opens
doors to a greater life. But don’t take my word for it. Try it for
yourself. For the next seven days, love yourself. Do nice things
for yourself. Tell yourself that you love everything about who
you are. You will see that loving yourself changes everything.
I love me. I love everything about me. I am the love of God.

March on. Do not tarry. To go forward is to move toward
perfection. — Khalil Gibran
Healing is not creating a perfect idea or a perfect body; it is
revealing an idea that is already perfect.
— “The Science of Mind,” page 212
When I was growing up, I often heard that Jesus was the
only one who was perfect. I just assumed the adults
knew what they were talking about. But as an adult
consciously traveling on my spiritual path, I re-qualified what
the word perfect means to me. And, I must confess, the dictionary
helped, too. The dictionary defines perfect as faultless, flawless,
picture-perfect; complete, whole, total and intact.
In the New Testament, Yeshua is quoted as saying, “Be ye
therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is
perfect.” (Matthew 5:48)
The key to this line is even as your Father, which is in heaven is
perfect. Metaphysically speaking, Father is the Infinite Presence
which is known by many names: God, Allah, Krishna and so on.
Here’s the exciting part. Heaven is always found within.
So, the perfection of God, Father and Krishna is already
within you. Perfection is who you were created to be. You are the
perfect idea in the perfect mind of God. This the truth of who
you are. Even with the seeming imperfections, you are perfect.
Knowing this, you can move on to create and experience a
life filled with joy, grace, perfect health and abundance. You can
march on. Do not wait. Keep moving forward to your perfection.
Peace and abundant blessings on your journey.
I am the perfect idea in the perfect mind of God.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am
your God. — Isaiah 41:10
It is wonderful to contemplate the mental attitude of people
who are not afraid to believe their prayers will be answered,
and are not afraid to say, “I know.”
— “The Science of Mind,” page 161
Fear is a powerful emotion. It can keep the best of us from
realizing our gifts and talents. Not only that, even if those
gifts and talents are realized, fear can keep us from sharing
those realized gifts with the world.
A healthy amount of fear is useful; it keeps us safe. However,
the fear we are talking about is founded in false beliefs. You know
the ones: fear of failure; fear of success. Afraid of being judged;
afraid that we might change if we really lived life from the depth
of our being. What will our friends and family say? This is the
fear we want to release.
It doesn’t matter what anyone says or thinks about you living
your life from your passion. There is something within you that
is wanting to be birthed through you. That something, that vision,
that desire was placed within you long before you came to this
Earth plane. The truth is, you are here to allow it full voice. Be
not afraid for you are fully supported.
Once you say “yes” to who you are to be, trust that everything
you need will come to you in expected and unexpected
ways. Fear not. The finances, the people, the ways and means
will show up.
This is the truth of your being. You are the place where the
infinite power of God becomes definite. Go for it. Be not afraid to
be the most brilliant you that you can be.
I trust in the power and presence of God in me.

Submit to a daily practice. Keep knocking and the joy inside

Whatever is true of the Universe as a whole must also be true
of the individual as some part of this Whole.

It is our consistent practice that deepens our relationship
with the One. This is a practice of recognizing that the Love
Intelligence is always present, re-presenting Itself in all ways.
You, my beloved friend, are the way that Spirit (Love, Joy, Peace)
manifests Itself here. Taking time daily to connect with the
Source is one of the most important activities you can engage in.
It takes more than just saying we are rooted in truth to be
rooted in truth. It takes the commitment of a gardener to make
sure those roots are cared for. This is where prayer, meditation,
journaling and exercise comes in. Just as the farmer tends to the
crops, we must tend to the crops of our thinking.
Recognizing there is a power and a presence that is greater
than we are — recognizing that we can use this power and presence
to live an abundant life — is what makes this life exciting.
Think about it: As we deepen our relationship with the One,
we become open to the infinite possibilities that allow us to fly
higher than we ever imagined.
Be excited about deepening your relationship with Spirit. The
deeper you go, the higher you fly. Out of all your relationships,
this is the one you truly want to cultivate. When this relationship
is solid, every other relationship must follow because there is
only one life. That life is perfect. That life is your life now. How
cool is that?
I have a deep connection with God. I am one in God. I am one with
all of life.

Joy is rooted in gratitude. A grateful heart is a joyful heart;
a joyful heart is a grateful heart. — Anonymous
All forms are rooted in one common creative Mind and the
Spirit of God is the Spirit of man.
— “The Science of Mind,” page 413
Plant life presents us with a profound truth. All plants are
rooted in the Source, which of course is Mother Earth.
Earth provides everything the plants need to thrive. Even
the plants in the oceans are rooted in the Earth.
Notice also that plants are not concerned with how they will
be nourished. There’s not much competition among plants. It’s
amazing to see how the aspen tree grows alongside the pine
tree, how the dandelions grow next to the roses.
All of this is done naturally. Yes, there are some plants in the
world (maybe weeds) competing for Earth’s nutrients, but for
the most part, all is taken care of. What a great lesson to recognize
that we are rooted in the Source. Once we know we are
firmly grounded in the Source of all of life, all of life is then free
to be expressed through us and as us.
How do you know when you are rooted in truth? When you
experience that peace that passes understanding. When, like
the mighty oak firmly rooted in the soil, we are firmly rooted in
Spirit, the Source — it doesn’t matter what the winds of change
bring. We can stand strong in the face of it all and say, “I shall
not be moved.”
Every day, give thanks. Expressing gratitude is a sign of
being rooted in the truth that there is only one life. That life is
your life now.
I am grounded in God. I live, move and have my being in peace, joy
and love. I am the love of God.

World peace must develop from inner peace.
— Dalai Lama XIV
We cannot be in peace until we know that the Spirit is the only
cause, medium and effect in our lives.
— “The Science of Mind,” page 264
Being rooted in truth is being rooted in peace. This peace
does not come from anything outside of us. It is something
that is innate to us. We don’t have to go looking for it. It just
is. Well, until it’s not.
And when we find that it is not, it’s because we have forgotten
who we are. With all the busyness of life, remaining peaceful
can be challenging. When this happens, people go searching for
the things they think will make them happy and bring peace.
They may go searching for the car, house, relationship, etc.,
they think is the source of peace. Usually, when they find these
things, they also find that the peace they were looking for is still
nowhere in sight.
Peace will never be found on the outside. Peace will always be
found within. Sometimes, we need to stop our seeking and be still
so that we can know.
Scripture says, “Be still and know that I am the Lord thy God
in the midst of you.” This is important because the word midst
means middle, center, core, heart; therefore, the line could be
written as, “Be still and know that the Lord thy God is in the heart
of you.” This is where the peace resides.
The next time life knocks you a little off center, stop and take
a breath. Be still. Know that peace is at the very heart of your

All our words are but crumbs that fall down from the feast of
— Kahlil Gibran
My word is the law unto its own manifestation, and will bring
to me or cause me to be brought to its fulfillment.
— “The Science of Mind,” page 57
Thoughts are words unspoken. Words are thoughts
expressed out loud. When we hear “In the beginning was
the word,” we are being reminded that everything begins
in thought. What you think about you bring about. What you
speak will surely be manifested.
Because you are such a powerful creative being, be aware
of what you think and say. Notice I didn’t say be careful. Being
careful has a tinge of fear in it. We never want to speak our word
from a place of fear, because we will create that.
Instead, we want to speak our word from a place of clarity,
conviction and gratitude. Don’t be careful of what you ask for.
Be mindful. Be aware. Rooted in the truth that there is only one
life and that life is your life now, you have the freedom to create
what your heart desires.
I know that life can show up in interesting ways, where it
may not be going in the way we want. However, we can choose
to use those times to stand in what we know: God, Spirit, is all
there is. I am one with all there is. From that stance, we speak
our word for peace, grace, perfect health, prosperity and joy.
Here’s another truth to meditate on: You are the word of God
made flesh, created in the spiritual image and spiritual likeness
of the Divine.
I am the word of God made flesh. I speak my word from a place of
clarity and passion. My word is creative. And so it is.

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within

Wonderful as Universal Mind is, It has no choice but to create
whatever thought is given It.
— Ernest Holmes, “Creative Mind,” page 6
As human beings, we have been given a great gift. It is the
gift of choice. We get to choose what to wear, where to go,
what to eat. But most importantly, we get to choose what
to think. This is crucial because our thoughts create our lives.
Literature from around the world speaks to the truth that
thoughts are things. We all have heard the saying, “What we
think about, we bring about.”
The New Testament of the Bible alludes to this many times.
For example: “It is done unto you as you believe.” Or, “As a man
thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
My favorite one is, “Pray believing that you have, so that you
Your life depends on how you choose to think about it.
Simple, right? Well, perhaps not all the time. It takes consistent
practice to choose what to think. And like everything else, what
you consistently practice becomes a habit. But that’s the beauty
of it. We get to choose.
Choose to see your life exactly how you want to experience it.
Do so without stress or strain because as the quote from Holmes
indicates, as wonderful as Universal Mind is, It has no choice but
create whatever thought is given It.
Today, I choose joy. I choose peace. I choose to be fantastic. Today,
I choose love.
